Basketball Team

The success of this season’s basketball team speaks for itself following an MIAA Tournament Championship and another appearance in the NCAA Division II Tournament.

In a year in which the team tallied a 25-6 record, 15-4 in the MIAA, and a dominant record of 10-3 in the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center, Southern added to the successes of seasons past.

The Lions led the MIAA in scoring, averaging almost 87 points per game, and ranked third in scoring defense (73.1). Those numbers are good enough to put the Lions at the top of the MIAA scoring margin totals as well (+13.7).

The year was the last for a coach who had been a staple for the University as well as the final for a group of seniors who claimed several honors in the Lion record books.

Marquis Addison, Jordan Talbert, Slim Magee, Matt Everson and Bryan Adams now walk away from a roster that will experience a dramatic turnover, but much like the last regime change Southern looks forward to the next chapter.
