Gov. Nixon scheduled to speak at graduation

Two distinguished speakers will address graduates, their families and guests at Missouri Southern’s 56th Commencement ceremonies Saturday, May 21 at Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon will serve as the speaker for the noon ceremony.

The noon ceremony will include graduates from the Robert W. Plaster School of Business Administration, the School of Education and Bachelor of General Studies Degrees.

Bill Gipson, President & Chief Executive Officer of The Empire District Electric Company, will speak at the 9:30 a.m. ceremony.

The 9:30 a.m. ceremony will include graduates from the School of Arts & Sciences, the School of Technology, Associates Degrees and Masters Degrees.

Nixon is serving his first term as Governor of Missouri. Garnering the highest margin of victory for a non-incumbent governor in 44 years, Nixon was elected Missouri’s 55th Governor on Nov. 4, 2008.
