‘Inconsistency’ plagues volleyball Lions

Missouri Southern Volleyball struggled this past weekend at the Dallas Baptist Invitational. Dropping two matches in day one and starting out day two with a 3-1 win over East Central University, and crumbled to host school, Dallas Baptist.

“Inconsistency” is the word that Coach Trish Knight uses to describe the season so far.

“We had 26 no-effort balls during throughout the entire tournament,” Knight said.

A no-effort ball consists of allowing the ball to hit the ground with no one trying to keep it in play.

“We should not have any,” said Knight.

Wednesday the ladies saw their first conference action and left with a big disappointment to 4th ranked Washburn. With a 3-0 loss, the Lions now sit 0-1 in the MIAA.

“It’s the start of the new season,” said knight.

With the start of continuous conference games the lions look to get themselves consistent. Keeping these past tournaments as reminder to when the season is completely underway.

With a talented young team, Coach knight looks to prepare her team and have them mentally tough.

“With such a fast game, it is hard to bounce back when you’re down,” said knight.

The lions will be back in action on Saturday facing-off with Southwest Baptist at 2 p.m.
