Senate looks to fill vacancy

Student Senate had its weekly meeting on Wednesday. The entire Senate met for a short time before breaking off into committees.

Vice President Brittany Lampe opened the meeting by inquiring if anyone wanted to serve on the vacancy committee. The committee has two empty spots that need to be filled.

Treasurer Ashleigh Thomlinson stated that the current budget sits at $31,273.36 after last week’s appropriations were funded.

Senate then split into individual committees for the evening.

The Collegiate Chapter of the National Association of Music Educators was the first organization to have an appropriation heard on the evening.

The association requested funds for a trip to Lake of the Ozarks, where they would attend the Missouri Music Education Association Conference. The conference is held at the end of January.

The association held a fundraiser, but still lacked the money to pay for lodging, which was why the group requested funds from Senate.

The financial committee was cut short when an organization failed to show up.

“We were supposed to hear a request from someone else, but they were supposed to have been here by now,” said Thomlinson.
