Jazz is back
Today, the Missouri Southern Jazz Combos will be performing at Gusano’s pizza. Under the direction of Dr. Phillip C. Wise, the Director of Music Education & Jazz Studies, they will be performing for your entertainment.
This is not the first time Missouri Southern has done this event. In fact, it has continuously brought a great number of people to enjoying pizza and jazz at Gusano’s.
Dr. Wise said, “Jazz lends itself to performances outside the concert hall venue into a more relaxed atmosphere. The Gusano’s performance is an outgrowth of that concept and has been very popular over the years. Pizza and jazz just seem to go together!”
Olivia Hoskins, Mass communications senior, who attended the previous Jazz at Gusano’s said, “It’s a great atmosphere. The place was filled with friends and admirers of the music, and there was a ton of talent from everyone who played.”
The event is enjoyed by student and community members of all ages. This is an event that the community has come to look forward to, so it’s definitely not something you want to miss, so call and make reservations to guarantee you don’t miss it.
Morgan Schwartz, General Studies Major, also commented saying, “It was a wonderful event. The music was all really great, it’s not very often you get to enjoy jazz music at dinner here in Joplin.”
The event itself is free and you are welcome to go to Gusanos to check it out, however, reservations are highly recommended to guarantee a spot, for it is “always packed.” Be sure to request seating near the jazz groups. For reservations call 417-623-9090.
Gusano’s is very close to MSSU, the exact address is 3929 E. 7th Street, Suite E Joplin, MO. The event begins at 6:00 pm and continues until 8:00pm.
