Look at the country around you and think

Have you ever actually looked at the country around you and asked one simple question – why?

I did just that this summer. Upon looking at this “beautiful” nation of ours, I had to ask myself the one question every true American should be asking on a regular basis – why?

Why is it that people get so upset when a group commits a terrorist act against us, yet people are supportive of a president who does the same thing? 9/11 was a terrible day. Innocent people lost their lives. But it was OK for the United States to do the same thing to Iraq? Do people want Americans to be looked at as terrorists? Because that is what this country is headed toward.

Why is it that while our country is in an economic crisis, our president is going before Congress asking for another $87 billion for his massacres? For the seventh month in a row, jobs have been lost. Yes, Bush is finally trying to get the economy back on its feet, but it seems like a moot point now. The budget will be in the red for the next 10 years anyway. And yes, the current wars are nothing but massacres.

Why is it that people will fight, and possibly die, for their freedoms, only to be quick to take them away from someone who doesn’t agree with their opinions? In my opinion, those who speak out against the norm are more patriotic than those who sit back and just let things happen. They’re the ones actually using their freedoms to the full extent. But if it’s traitorous to speak out against our president and a wrong war in times of trouble, then I’m proud to be a traitor.

Why do people let these injustices happen? Almost every American will stand up and proclaim how much they love their country and how proud they are to live in it, yet there is nothing to be proud of right now. We have a blood-thirsty leader who doesn’t have a single qualm about using America’s resources for his personal vendettas. Our military has basically become nothing better than a bunch of terrorists, invading other countries where we have no right to be, and more money is being given to these wars, as people continuously lose jobs and starve on the streets.

So what are you going to do about it? If it means nothing to you, go back to your happy little life and act as if everything is cool.

But if you care at all about your country and where it is going, it’s time to stand up and change it – before it’s too late.
