The Lions played a physical game against the Central Missouri State University Mules Feb. 18 at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center.

It was a rough night for the Lions as they lost to the Mules by a score of 82-60.

The game was plagued by 29 fouls in all, including four technicals. Southern accounted for three of those technicals.

Ameer Watts was ejected from the game with 35.9 seconds left in the first half on his second technical foul.

The Lions coaching staff received one.

The Lions shot only 32.1 percent from the floor while averaging 45.8 percent on the season.

“We did a bad job on offense,” said Orestus Cavness, junior guard. “I rushed a couple of shots that we went over in practice.”

The Lions shot 8.3 percent in the three-point range and 71 percent in free throws. They were on the season 35.8 percent and 70.9 percent respectively.

“We weren’t playing within our game, in ourselves and in our offense,” Cavness said.

With only one more home game left, the Lions are looking for a win. The Lions host the Northwest Missouri State University Bearcats at the Leggett & Platt Athletic Center on Saturday.

“Whether they (refs) did a bad job or not, we shouldn’t let it affect us,” Cavness said.

“For the rest of the season, I’m sure we can turn it around. We don’t want to let the fans down.”
