The thing about you guys picking the athletes of year on this campus was probably the biggest joke of the year. Not only did you miss the Male Athlete of the year, but you also missed the Women’s. Hiram Ocasio is a good basketball player but he wasn’t even the best on the team. Ameer Watts was a far better than he was, and wasn’t Ameer selected to the All- American team? The Male Athlete of the year award should have gone to Nathan Hughes. Let me tell you why he should have been selected. Nathan has quietly moved up on the career lists here at Southern, in not just one category but seven of them. He is currently

Hits – 8thDoubles – 3rdHomeruns – 2ndRBI’s – 3rd

That’s just his hitting. He is also on three career lists for pitching as well.

The female athlete of the year award shouldn’t have gone to Terra Reisner, she had a good year don’t get me wrong, but there have been others who have done way more than she has. Mary Still from the Track Team is way more deserving for this award, she already holds the record for the 400 meter hurdles, and she has one of the best times in the nation right now. She also has the indoor records for 60 meter dash, 60 meter hurdles, and 2nd in the 200 meter, 400 meter, 600 meter. She set four of those records this year. It is apparent that no one did their homework on this story. I would suggest that next time you pick something like this you look at every single sport not just the ones who get all the attention on campus.
