Tennis team entangles Lady Bulldogs in match

Two losses were experienced by Missouri Southern’s tennis team on April 1.

First, the Lions took on Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Okla. NSU defeated Southern 5-0. Southern lost all three of the doubles matches and dropped two singles matches.

The Lions also took on Harding University. HU defeated Southern 5-0.

March 31 the Lions headed to Kansas City to take on Rockhurst University. The Lions won 7-2.

The Lions won five of the six singles matches and two out of three doubles.

The win at Rockhurst was Southern’s fifth-straight win.

They defeated Truman State University 8-1 March 28, Lincoln University 9-0 on March 26, South Dakota University 8-1 March 20 and Missouri Western State College 5-4 also on March 20.

On March 19, Southern lost to northwest Missouri State University 3-6. Drury University defeated the Lions 2-7 March 12.

In singles, sophomore Barb Gombosi came away with an 11-5 record.

Senior Lacey McMunn obtained a 9-5 record. Freshmen Michelle Hall and Ashton Lawrence both came away with an 8-5 record, and Sophomore Kristen Meschede achieved a 7-7 record.

In doubles, Gombosi and Hall achieved a 13-4 record. McMunn and Meschede obtained a 9-6 record.
