Back by popular demand for a second session this summer, a 10-hour course in Texas Hold ‘Em will be offered by the Hudson Valley Community College’s Workforce Development Institute beginning Monday, August 2.

The course is designed to give the casual poker player an understanding of some important aspects of Texas Hold ‘Em. Hold ‘Em and other poker variations are experiencing a surge in popularity due to shows such as The World Series of Poker on ESPN and World Poker Tour on the Travel Channel.

The course will run from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and Monday for two weeks. The cost is $149 for the 10-hour course.

The instructor is John Ostwald, an assistant professor who teaches psychology at Hudson Valley. Ostwald has been a successful Hold ‘Em player for ten years and has been playing poker for more than 30 years.
