Poker Course at Hudson Valley Gets Another Deal as Texas Hold ‘Em Class Returns August 2

Back by popular demand for a second session this summer, a 10-hour course in Texas Hold ‘Em will be offered by the Hudson Valley Community College’s Workforce Development Institute beginning Monday, August 2.

The class will discuss starting hands, mathematical probabilities, position, playing styles, tournament strategy and casino versus home games. Much of the information will be taught in game simulations.

The course will run from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday and Monday for two weeks. The cost is $149 for the 10-hour course.

The instructor is John Ostwald, an assistant professor who teaches psychology at Hudson Valley. Ostwald has been a successful Hold ‘Em player for ten years and has been playing poker for more than 30 years.
