One of the newest restaurants in town, Logan’s Roadhouse, Inc., opened its doors on Dec. 12, 2005.

This is a place where visitors start out with a metal bucket of peanuts and throw the empty shells on the floor. The menu includes flame-grilled steaks, ice-cold longnecks, made-from-scratch yeast rolls and bottomless buckets of in-shell peanuts.

The menu features over 30 entrees including steaks (hand-cut on premises), mesquite-grilled chicken, ground steak burgers, baby-back ribs, seafood and specialty salads made from fresh ingredients.

“My favorite thing is the onion brewski,” said Patty Overman, Joplin. “I think I’ve had it at least three times now.”

The atmosphere at Logan’s Roadhouse revisits the days of past and brings them to life in a modern way through hospitality and attentive service. There’s a casual and fun ambiance with funny caricatures on the walls with signs like “No ugly dates” and “No table dancing” along with beer advertisements. The decor is western with a nice abundance of wood.

“I haven’t been (to Logan’s),” said Kim Larson, intern for the Student Support Center. “I will check it out eventually, though.”

The restaurant also offers a free, old-fashion jukebox and telephone to the public. With a fireplace in the back, three televisions located at the bar and five throughout the remainder of the building, students and families have several seating options available. The building has a seating capacity of 306.

“I like the atmosphere and the management staff,” said Stacey Schachtner, employee.

Dining hours are from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

For the 21-and-older crowd, Logan’s offers happy hour drink specials from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. until close. Alcoholic drink specialties include six kinds of Roadhouse Tea, a strawberry daiquiri, pina coladas, margaritas and bloody marys among several choices in beer and wine.

Customers should expect to wait for dinner on the weekends, but not during the week. Reservations are not accepted after 6 p.m. during the week or on the weekends. For more information, please call Logan’s at 626-7181.
