New York comedian Bernadette Pauley performs Oct. 4 in the Webster Hall auditorium.

There was a mix of students in Webster auditorium Thursday Oct. 4, to listen to New York comedian Bernadette Pauley. Some students had heard of Pauley, while some students came to see what CAB Comedy Night was all about.

“It is always interesting to see the groups who come out,” said Carolyn White, senior biology major, the Campus Activities Board president, “Each comedian brings out a different set.”

Pauley, originally from Revere, Mass., knows how to entertain college students. Pauley’s insults to Britney Spears and jokes about her Catholic upbringing kept the audience laughing until she left the stage.

“She was all over the place,” said Kaitlin Tinney, sophomore pre-med major. “It was pretty great.”

The CAB always hopes for students, faculty, staff and alumni to attend CAB events. CAB members could be seen on Thursday in there lime green T-shirts that advertise a “CAB event today.” Overall, members were positive about the attendance at the event.

“There was a good turnout,” White said. “And she really kept the crowd interested.”

Pauley used audience interaction to gain attention. She singled out several people in the audience by making remarks about how they looked or their reaction to one of her jokes.

Southern students who have never heard of Pauley can check out some of her prior work. She has appeared on comedy Central’s “Tough Crowd” with Collin Quinn, VH-1’s show “How to be a Hilton,” MTV, and college campuses across the country. She also hosted Bravo’s “War of the Wives.”

Many students stayed after the performance to talk with Pauley, and pick up free stickers containing her Web site information.

“I don’t even know what to say after that,” said Lindi Todd, sophomore secondary education major. “She was hilarious.”
