No one saw this coming…

At the half, eighth seeded Emporia State is leading the MIAA regular season champion SBU Bearcats 41-38.Emporia is led by 12 points from DeAndre Townsend. Townsend, a first team All-MIAA performer this season is helped by 11 points from Marvin Lee and eight points from Jordan Fithian. SBU is led offensively by 12 points from Matt Rogers and 11 from Jim Grabowski. Both teams are shooting the three very effectively as both SBU and Emporia are both shooting 50% from long range. For SBU to avoid being the first number one seed to lose in the opening round, Rogers, who led the MIAA in blocked shots with 127, needs to stay in the paint. He got sucked out onto the perimeter way to much in the first half and that opened things up inside. SBU has a tremendous size advantage in this contest but, they aren’t taking advantage.
