Where’d they go

Teenagers and students across the country are killing themselves — why?

Because they are harrassed and ridiculed for their sexual orientation.

This problem and the attention it has received puts the spotlight again on Missouri Southern’s non-discrimination policy, which does not include sexual orientation and gender identity.

But we wonder, where has the Equality Alliance gone?

After being so vocal a semester ago and vowing continued action this year to get Southern’s policy updated, the Alliance has done little to this point and we’re almost halfway through the semester.

Now, with the nation focusing on the problem of harrassment and discrimination against gays, the organization on campus that stands up for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students is largely absent from the public discussion.

We support the Equality Alliance’s cause.

We just wish they’d keep raising hell.
