3 senior art students to display artwork

Missouri Southern will be hosting an art show titled “Dedication” featuring the creative works of three senior art major students.

The show will run from May 2 – 6 at the Spiva Art Gallery on the MSSU campus located at 3950 E. Newman Road, Joplin, Missouri. Gallery hours are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

A free public reception with the artists will be held from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, May 6 at the Spiva Art Gallery at MSSU. The reception will include refreshments, a live acoustic music jam session and, for the first time ever, attendance by student female models.

The art show celebrates the creative works of three up and coming artists:

* Ashley Nicole Eriksen, senior Studio Art and Graphic Design major from Webb City;

* Nathan Lee McAlister, senior Studio Art major from Neosho; and

* Rosita Renate Link, senior Studio Art major from Joplin.

The selected works will showcase a range of media. Eriksen’s work will feature all medium format of photography. McAlister’s work is based on primitive folk arts of early Americana. Link’s work will feature ceramic sculptures and stain glass.
