75th celebration continues across MSSU campus

It’s been an exciting year for the University — its students and its alumni. This year marks the 75th anniversary of Missouri Southern.

Last semester, celebrations consisted of various events including dedicating homecoming to the cause.

This semester is no different — there are plans in place to ensure students, faculty and alumni have plenty of chances to celebrate.

“It’s been really fun,” said JoAnne Graffam, committee chair and Missouri Southern foundation director.

“We’ve really been getting out there and encouraging the community to get involved.”

All events have been open to the community as well as students, faculty and alumni.

A budget was set aside at the beginning of the year to fund events in addition to  donations initiated by the foundation.

In April, the committee has plans for a Spring Spree, a two-day event with games and activities.

The committee is also working on hosting a 5K run.

The community will also be welcomed to attend an encore performance of The Patsy, a musical production.

“We are also working towards having a sort of year-end event in May,” Graffam said.

“We realize and have been striving to attract a very large audience to increase attendance at these events.”

Graffam says that the focus throughout the year has been to bring people together in the community and celebrate the accomplishments made at Missouri Southern each year and the anniversary year.

Official event dates and times can be found on the Missouri Southern calendar online once plans have been made concrete.
