Smoke alrets DPS to possible drug use

11:30 p.m.

The Department of Public Safety was contacted to Matthews Hall Room 219 in reference to a violent student.

The person in charge of the computer lab at the time said a student had slammed a keyboard down and started shouting after a request for an I.D.

The student was banned from the computer lab.

Theft

3:55 p.m.

A student contacted DPS in reference to a theft.

The theft occurred in Leggett & Platt.

A student left her purse in an unlocked office. She said $18 was taken from the purse.

11:02 a.m.

A DPS officer was dispatched to Reynolds Hall because a student was having a seizure.

Upon arrival, the officer found the student on the floor and two instructors were helping him.

The Joplin EMS arrived later and transported the student to an area hospital for observation.

Drug Law Violation

2/5/2005

10:40 p.m.

DPS was contacted to Dryer Hall in reference to activity involving possible drug use.

Two officers arrived on the scene and found evidence of smoke in the room.

The occupants of the room admitted to smoking cigars, but denied any drug use.

JPD was called to investigate and two officers were dispatched.

A drug dog was used to search the room, but nothing was found.
