Volleyball loses pair on road

Visiting the No. 1 ranked Truman State University, the Missouri Southern volleyball team lost 3-0 Sept. 30.

Ashley Hill, freshman outside hitter, led the Lions in kills with 10 and points with 11.

She was followed by junior middle hitter Ashley Mehrer who earned nine kills and 10 points.

Sarah Hoffmeister, junior outside hitter, earned seven kills and eight and a half points. She also led the team in defensive digs with 13.

Megan Norman, junior libero, earned 10 digs.

On Oct. 1, the Lions traveled to Maryville to take on Northwest Missouri State University.

Southern lost the match 3-2.

Hill led the team in kills with 17 kills and 20.5 points. She was followed by Hoffmeister who earned 16 kills and 19.5 points.

Mehrer earned eight kills and nine and a half points.

Norman had 19 digs against NWMSU, and Hoffmeister had 16.

The Lions’ record falls to 6-12 overall and 1-5 in the MIAA.

They next play Friday and Saturday in the Henderson State Classic in Arkadelphia, Ark.

Tuesday, Southern travels to Bolivar to play Southwest Baptist University.
