bordertown release party
On Friday, March 1 in the Spiva Library Quiet Room at 11:30 a.m., the English department’s publication bordertown will be released, and the Literature Lives writing contest prompt will be announced

Crash Course on Crusoe
At 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 3 at the Joplin Public Library in the West Community Room, the narratives and themes of the Literature Lives novel Robinson Crusoe will be discussed.

Crash Course on Crusoe
On Monday, March 4 at 7 p.m., in Cornell Auditorium in Plaster Hall, there will be a faculty panel composed of professors from multiple academic departments will discuss the context of the novel.

Goat Petting
March 5, from 11-1 p.m., there will be goats on the Oval for goat petting.

Earthenware Pottery Making
March 5, from 1-3 p.m. on the Oval, Southern Clay will be making earthenware pottery as done in the novel. Students do not need to be part of the club to take part in creating pottery. Clay will be provided by the club.

Film Double Header
On March 5, starting at 4 p.m., at Bookhouse Cinema, there will be two films shown. Showing at 4 p.m. is Robinson Crusoe (1997), and at 7 p.m., Man Friday will play.

Coconut Hunt
Organized by Campus Activities Board, on March 6 from 8-4 p.m., there will be plastic coconuts hidden outdoors on campus, and a prize will be offered at the end of the day.

Pottery Pit Firing
On March 6 on the Oval, pieces made by members of Southern Clay and participants will be fired in a pit firing to turn them into usable ceramic pieces.

Speaker Shirley Tung
On Thursday, March 7, in Cornell Auditorium in Plaster Hall at 7 p.m., keynote speaker from Kansas State University, Dr. Shirley Tung will talk about the importance of diary keeping.

Pottery Pickup
On Thursday, March 7, in Cornell Auditorium in Plaster Hall from 7-9 p.m., pieces made during the week will be available for pickup.

Gala Reception
On Friday, March 8, at 6 p.m. at the North End Zone in the Academic Room, the Gala Reception will take place. The winner of the writing contest will be announced and read the winning piece
The event also serves as the second half of the pottery pickup.
