Best Friends Forever, commonly known as “B.F.F.”; we all have one, or a few. Some of you may have had (or still have) an imaginary one, but what happens when your B.F.F. is no longer a B.F.F.?

Growing up, we meet a lot of people who end up playing a significant role in our lives and take on the title of “best friend.” When we are younger, a best friend is pretty important: 1. They keep pinky promises 2. They hold “your spot” 3. They won’t tell your secrets. As you get older, friends take on even more important roles: 1. They are like your “partner in crime” 2. They don’t (or shouldn’t) date your crush 3. They won’t tell your secrets.

As we continue with our lives, we sometimes lose contact with those who we used to keep so close to us. I challenge you to contact a “B.F.F.” you haven’t spoken to in a while. Resolve any issues if you have any. If the friendship ended over an argument, be the first to step up and apologize, even if it wasn’t your fault. You will feel better about yourself, and maybe even rekindle an old friendship.

If you still keep in contact with all your friends, maybe you have a family member you don’t talk to as often. Pick up the phone and give them a call to see how things have been.

If you had an imaginary friend, talk to them too. Have fun with it. You may have given yourself the best advice that has shaped you into who you are today. Thank yourself for that.

It’s good to catch up with your old friends because now they may be telling your secrets (the ones they SWORE they would never tell anyone), as “I remember when,” stories to their new friends.

There is a reason why we meet the people we do in life. Stay in touch with them, even if it’s just sending them a simple text telling them you hope they are doing well. The last “F” means forever, let’s keep it that way.
