Volleyball Lions complete season

After an up-and-down season, the Lions’ volleyball team posted a loss to Washburn University in the first round of the MIAA postseason tournament. The 3-1 loss puts the Lions to a 14-18 record on the ’04 season, 6-10 in the MIAA, giving them a 6th place ranking in the conference.

Senior Jackie Gallagher led the Lions in kills with 551, averaging more than 4 kills per game. Gallagher posted 52 attacks and 22 kills in her last game wearing a Lions jersey.

Senior Sarah Jaynes posted 9 kills in her final game as a Lion.

Sophomores Ashley Mehrer and Sarah Hoffmeister finished with 12 and 9 kills respectively.

Junior Denise Lancaster finished the night with 55 assists.

The top three teams in the MIAA, Truman State University, Central State University and Washburn University, are all nationally ranked.

TSU is ranked third in the nation, and CMSU is ranked 10th.
