CAB gears up for third annual Miner’s Bowl pep rally
The Campus Activities Board met this week to elect officers and brainstorm about Homecoming.
The CAB had its second meeting of the semester at 2:15 p.m., Wednesday in the basement of Kuhn Hall. The group started by electing its four officers for the year.
Of the four students elected as officers, three ran unopposed: Jeff Walker, senior graphic arts major, president; Katie Tinney, junior biology major and Nathan Hicks, sophomore political science major, secretary. Alesha Gilleland, junior sociology major, ran opposed, but was elected as public relations officer.
Walker already stepped up and started helping move the meeting along and come up with ideas.
“I want spirit on campus to be better,” Walker said. “I’m at every sporting event. If we played jacks against Pitt State I’d be there.
“Don’t be afraid to come out,” Walker said. “You’re a CAB member as soon as you step on campus.”
For most of the meeting Tori Christiansen, director of student activities, let Carolyn White, resident director, run the meeting to get her feet wet. White will be assisting Christiansen for the next year.
“I’m excited to continue helping with CAB,” White said. “We have some really dedicated students this year.”
The only event planned for next week is the third annual Miners Bowl pep rally at 8 p.m., Sept. 11, in front of the Billingsly Student Center.
