Movie review: Cohen brothers at it again
Joel and Ethan Cohen are experts at making those “weird” movies that are now so popular on college campuses. Burn After Reading continues their trend.
If you like traditional Hollywood movies, with a clear climax and resolution, you will not like this film.
If you appreciate alternative storytelling – or enjoyed the brothers’ twisted comedies, like Fargo or The Big Lebowski – you should catch this one. George Clooney is creepy, John Malkovitch is psychotic, and Brad Pitt is mind-blowingly quirky.
At some point you’ll suspect the movie isn’t getting anywhere, but that plays into the storytelling. Just relax and enjoy it.
Do something different this weekend and see Burn After Reading, which is rated R for pervasive language, some sexual content and violence.
