Picking a party Don’t stress
It’s comforting to know that, when it really matters, both John McCain and Barack Obama will reach across the aisle and work together on the “big” issues. These two great Americans have shown the rest of us the true meaning of bipartisanship. We should all heed the words of John McCain:
“Our political differences, no matter how sharply they are debated, are really quite narrow in comparison to the remarkably durable national consensus on our founding convictions.”
So the difference in John McCain and the Republicans and Barack Obama and the Democrats is “narrow.” Yeah for democracy!
Here are a few examples of defining moments in our nation’s history where McCain and Obama have bravely stepped across party lines.
They both voted to renew and make permanent the Patriot Act. (Obama promised not to but perhaps he didn’t want be divisive. Besides, everyone else was doing it!)
They both voted to continue the war in Iraq by appropriating billions to fund it.
They both voted for the $700 billion bailout to “save the American taxpayer.”
They are both calling for something to be done about that pesky nation, Iran. While McCain has criticized Obama for being too soft on the Iranian threat, he need not worry. Obama has taken a strong stance:
“The danger from Iran is grave and real and my goal will be to eliminate this threat.”
Both candidates have been looking out for the American people all along. We can rest assured that, no matter who is elected, there will only be a “narrow” difference in their administrations.
So what does America have to look forward to after Bush? Some things are for certain: we will continue to have the Patriot Act to keep us safe, the Iraq situation will remain, and remain, and remain, we will have a recession, err, recovery due to the $700 billion bailout, and it looks like war with Iran is inevitable.
So when you go to the polls to vote on Nov. 4 remember: your vote really doesn’t make a difference – there’s none to be made!
