Remember a time when the Fast and Furious franchise was about a group of street racers stealing computers? Neither does Dwayne Johnson, apparently. 

Hobbs & Shaw stars Johnson and Jason Statham returning as their Fast and Furious characters, Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw. The two pair up to stop a superhuman villian, played by Idris Elba, who threatens the future of humanity.

This movie is as ridiculous as it sounds, but I enjoyed most of it. You know how Taco Bell is not the best food to eat, yet you still eat it? That’s this film. You know how plain it is, but you want to watch it again and again. 

The film is full of hilarious quips between Hobbs and Shaw. It’s basically two hours of these characters insulting each other, and action scenes are smashed in between. 

The lines they deliver back and forth serve make this more upbeat than its predecessors.

My complaint with this film is it is not as exciting as the previous Fast and Furious films. 

It feels like the characters go one place to do something and then immediately go to another while they make jokes in between the action sequences. 

The writing is all over the place because they are trying to outperform the goofiness from Fast and Furious 8.

However, the movie is very funny, and Johnson and Statham have great chemistry. The best aspect of the film is the actors. They are great and seem to know how to be goofy in a production like this.

I only wish they would not have tried so hard for the cash grab by slapping Fast & Furious in the title. This has no connection to the franchise other than the two leads.

If you are as big of a Fast and Furious fan as I am that will bother you the whole time. This is so far from the original film that it will make you sick. 

Yes, the Fast and Furious franchise gets sillier with every movie, but the bad guy is a superhuman for crying out loud. 

The action is taken to another level that I didn’t think they could go. All the action in this film is laughable because of its unrealistic nature.

This film is about as over the top as it gets. It has all the ingredients to make a summer blockbuster. I would rather turn on the more grounded original film than this one, but we are in a time where more action equals more money.
