Lions lineman goes down in practice
Lions Offensive Line-man Sidney Spear was injured Wednesday during practice. He was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, but was released that evening.
“He went to the hospital – it was precautionary,” Lions Head Coach Bart Tatum told The Chart yesterday. “It was a freak accident on a football play. Everything turned out negative. He’s fine.”
At the time, several people on the field didn’t know who it was or what was going on.
“One of the linemen got hurt,” said Dallas Correll, stadium custodian. “I’m not sure exactly who it is. They were just having a lineman drill. I didn’t see him when he went down.”
Corell asked The Chart to leave the field because it was a closed practice.
“He just fell out in practice,” said Korie Henry, tight end. “They said he was moving his arms and legs and that everything would be fine. They’re just taking him in for x-rays to make sure.”
No one who was interviewed saw what happened, but many saw him moving.
“He was moving his arms and legs and moving around,” said Eric Thompson, offensive lineman. “He’ll be okay.”
