Choirs ready to host two upcoming concerts
Missouri Southern’s music department has two upcoming performances, the second annual “Seasonal Choral Flourish” and the Winter Choral Concert.
“The Seasonal Choral Flourish is a festive community outreach concert,” Dr. David Sharlow, associate professor of music and director of the Concert Choir and Chamber Singers said. “We’re joining Crosslines, which is a group of churches in the area that come together to help those in need, to perform this concert for the community.”
The concert will be given by Southern’s Concert Choir and Chamber Singers.
The performance will take place tonight at 7:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, located at 812 S. Pearl in Joplin, and is free to the public.
“We will have instrumentalists joining us, and it will be acoustically pleasing,” Sharlow said.
The second performance will be the Winter Choral Concert on Tuesday Dec. 6.
“The Winter Choral Concert won’t last as long as the Seasonal Choral Flourish and Southern Exposure will be joining us,” Sharlow said.
The Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will be performing along side Southern Exposure, Southern’s show choir. Southern Exposure is under the direction of Matthew Holt.
The Winter Choral Concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the Taylor Performing Arts Center and is open to the general public.
