Chuck Surface, area leader and Missouri Southern Board of Governors member, passed away last night after battling cancer for some time.

He was 68 years old.

Surface had been Webb City’s Economic Development Director since 2007 and had also served in the Missouri House of Representatives and as the Jasper County Commissioner.

He is survived by his wife, three children and one grandchild.

The Chart is awaiting comment from the University regarding Surface’s passing.
