All week the Wellness Department and Campus Activities Board has been hosting events in the Lion’s Den as part of Healthy Relationships Week.

In addition, the Advising, Counseling, and Testing office has been taking submissions for the 3rd Annual Healthy Relationships Contest.

The winning couple will receive a restaurant giftcard and two movie passes.

Submission forms and drop-boxes are placed all over campus.  The deadline to apply is today.

Yesterday, three Healthy Relationships Week events took place in the Lion’s Den.

These were a couple’s caricature artist from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. sponsored by CAB.  CAB also hosted a Speed Dating Lunch at 12:15.

The Health Hut was there with extra free giveaways from 10:45 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Wellness Department hosted its Wellness Wednesday series by providing art supplies for students to make Valentines.

This “Make-and-Take Valentine” activity supported the areas of social, mental/emotional, and financial wellness, said Heather Arnold, director of aquatics and wellness.

Tuesday’s events included a Mardi Gras celebration in the Lion’s Den where students made masks and got pieces of King Cake.

That evening, the wellness department hosted a seminar called “What is a Healthy Relationship?” in Billingsly Student Center.

On Monday, couples attended the first of three Relationships 101 classes taught by a counselor in the ACTS office.

Next week there will not be a Wellness Wednesday event due to Senior Assessments.

The following week, the Wellness Wednesday event will be “make-and-take magnets” with the wellness focus being on sociala and mental/emotional, said Arnold.

Every Wednesday, the Wellness Department hosts “Wellness Wednesday” activities in the Lion’s Den centered around the seven areas of wellness: nutritional, social, mental/emotional, financial, sexual, spiritual, and physical.

The events take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The winners of the Healthy Relationships Contest will be notified by the ACTS office by Friday, Feb. 22.
