Wellness Wednesday looks to keep students engaged
This week’s Wellness Wednesday event was “Make Stained Glasses.” It took place at the usual time, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the Lion’s Den. The Wellness Wednesday series is sponsored by the wellness department.
Students were able to choose between a variety of styles and sizes of drinking glasses and decorate them with colorful tissue paper to give the effect of stained glass.
Heather Arnold, director of aquatics and wellness, said that this week’s Wellness Wednesday event is a part of Diversity Week.
“The different colors and shapes, and different sizes of the cups, it all blends together to make something beautiful. That’s what Diversity Week is all about,” she said.
The Wellness Wednesday series seeks to help students achieve the seven areas of wellness: nutritional, social, mental/emotional, financial, sexual, spiritual and physical.
This week’s activity promoted the social and mental/emotional areas of wellness.
“It’s a really creative idea. I would’ve never thought to do this,” said April Englebert, a senior elementary education major.
Next week, the wellness department is hosting a “Make-and-Take Keychains” activity as part of the Wellness Wednesday series. It will take place in the Lions’ Den from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
