Should Morgan Wallen get canceled?
Morgan Wallen has been the face of controversy for quite some time now. At first, he was booted from performing on Saturday Night Live due to a video that had surfaced of him partying it up with some college girls without a mask.
Oh my. What a terrible person.
Now, earlier this month, he was recorded outside his house, after a night out drinking with his friends, when he said a racial slur that made everybody lose their minds. This became the downfall of the country music superstar. His record label quickly dropped him. His agent left. Music stations have stopped playing his music. And he is not allowed to receive any country music awards.
People across the nation were quick to harp on Wallen, calling him a racist. Wallen apologized for his behavior saying, “I’m embarrassed and sorry. I used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back. There are no excuses to use this type of language, ever. I want to sincerely apologize for using the word. I promise to do better.”
Morgan Wallen says a racial slur on his own property, drunk as a skunk and joking around with his friends- canceled. Joe Biden says, “If you don’t vote for me, you ain’t black”- becomes president of the United States of America.
Back in 2018, Kendrick Lamar kicked a white woman off stage after he invited her up because she rapped the N-word from his very own song. But based off of her skin color, she is not allowed to rap the music he makes because she is not black. Isn’t that a form of racism?
Cancel culture represents everything that is wrong with our society. Nobody is perfect. We make mistakes. But the woke, agenda pushing saviors of our nation will do anything in their power to make sure that any white dude that has any kind of success will be kicked off of his podium.
I have always liked Wallen for his reckless behavior. He lives the life of a true rowdy country boy from the sticks. His wild, outlaw-like behavior always reminded me of the rowdiness that I used to run around with in Oklahoma. I am not saying that he should have used the word because that does not represent the country folks. However, he said it in a context that was not degrading or harmful. He was joking with his friend.
Rap music uses the N-word in every other lyric of their music, but I hear everybody- no matter their skin color- blaring that music for their grandmas to hear. Where is the equality in saying you can’t say something because you are white? But I can say it. It’s my word. Where is the equality? In my opinion, we need to cancel that word all together. Get it out of our music. Get it out of our movies and get off of your high horse.
You know damn good and well that Morgan Wallen did not say that word out of hate. Yet, he is being punished. He is being punished so hard that his career is on the line. The biggest lie in America is that there is “systematic racism” holding black people back. I see more racism against white people because everyone assumes that we are gifted with some kind of privilege because of our skin color. Obviously, we are not.
It is time we stop seeing race. There is too much hypocrisy and hate in our country. It’s time we come together as one nation and stop trying to cancel everybody. One group of people burn cities down and they are taking a stand for black lives. The other storms the capitol and they are “white supremacists.”
I stand with Morgan Wallen. He seems like a genuine guy. A good guy who loves what he does. He makes a few mistakes here and there. Heck, don’t we all? I know one thing for sure. Looking at Wallen’s streaming numbers, it is going to take a lot more than that to silence the modern-day outlaw. Morgan Wallen isn’t going anywhere, y’all.
