Mind reader comes to campus

Fans of the NBC reality television series, America’s Got Talent, will get the opportunity to see one of the semi-finalists from season 7 perform live on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

Mind reader, Eric Dittelman, will be coming to the Southern campus with his unique blend of mind reading and improvisational comedy, with a performance that starts at 7 p.m. in Corley Auditorium.

“It’s a mind reading show; it combines a lot of stand up and improv comedy,” commented Dittelman. “It uses a lot of magic mixed with psychology.”

A semi-finalist on America’s Got Talent in 2012, Dittelman has been performing professionally for the past five years, though his fascination with magic started as a hobby.

“I started with magic … at a young age and college is where I got more fascinated with why magic works on people, like the psychology aspects,” said Dittelman. “I kind of smashed the two together for this fun show.”

According to Dittelman, people will get to see routines he has performed on America’s Got Talent and The Ellen Degeneres Show, though he is best known for duct-taping his eyes shut and playing a game of Pictionary.

“We’ve had a lot of guys and girls come who have done well on shows like America’s Got Talent, but to get a semi-finalist from a pretty recent season, we’re really excited about,” said Landon Adams, director of student activities.

The show, sponsored by the Campus Activities Board (CAB), is the first of many interactive performances scheduled for the semester.
