This Friday, April 4, journalist and historian Michael Wallis, will be visiting MSSU in honor of Route 66’s 100th anniversary.
Wallis is known for many things, being a journalist was one of the first things the Missouri-born, historian is known for, but it is certainly not the most noteworthy. Wallis has won many awards, including the John Steinbeck award, and the Will Rogers Spirit award. He has written for many publications, Time, Life, People, The New Yorker, to name a few. Wallis is also the voice for Sheriff in the Pixar Cars franchise.
Wallis is the Author of many books on American history including Route 66: The Mother Road 75th Anniversary edition. Since the publication of Wallis’ book in 1990, there was a spark in interest in traveling Route 66 again. Many people have continued to travel the highway over the last several years to experience the history of the mother road.
