The annual Dress to Impress event is coming Wednesday, February 26th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Billingsly Student Center Ballroom and room 307. Dress to Impress is a one-day free event held at MSSU where students can pick out free professional clothing and accessories to help them look their best in preparation for their upcoming interviews and careers.
Alex Gandy, the director of Career Services and organizer of Dress to Impress is preparing for the event by asking for donations from local members of the community. Professional clothing donations are gathered from all over the Joplin area. There are many professionals who are willing to donate to the students, and “we need as many donations as we can get” says Gandy. Donations can be delivered to MSSU Hearnes Hall room 308 through Monday, February 24th.
This month is the 10th annual event and has been popular from the start. “I remember our very first Dress to Impress event, it was kind [of] a shot in the dark, we didn’t know if students would really grab hold of this event, and we truly became an event that sparked a lot of interest, and it has evolved to meet more student’s needs” says Gandy.
Dress to Impress can truly help students to make a good first impression, without having to break the bank. Students are able to take home as many items as they would like and there are also volunteers available if they need help finding anything.
