More than a month ago, news was circulating regarding Mercy Hospital’s insurance policy: the hospital and its affiliate practices were considering ending coverage of Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, an insurance offered to employees in businesses and establishments all over Joplin (including MSSU). As negotiations continued over a decision regarding coverage, many MSSU employees faced uncertainty while making choices regarding their health coverage benefits for the upcoming year.

The wait for a decision is now over, and Mercy has decided to continue offering coverage of Anthem BC/BS in Missouri for 2025 and beyond. This multi-year agreement ensures that MSSU employees with the insurance can continue receiving benefits for their health needs.
