Get ready Lions, because Homecoming week at Missouri Southern is just around the corner, and this year’s theme is nothing short of heroic: “Lions Assemble,” an Avengers-inspired extravaganza!
The excitement kicks off on Monday, October 2, with “Marvel Monday.” It’s the day when voting begins for Homecoming King and Queen. Throughout the day, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., you can immerse yourself in superhero spirit with a week-long Find the Flag event and Defend The Den.
On Tuesday, October 3, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., prepare for an epic experience with food trucks, a thrilling zipline, groovy music, and a fun cape giveaway. It’s a day full of excitement that even Tony Stark would envy!
On “Webtastic Wednesday,” get ready for bounce houses, cool tunes, refreshing snow cones, and the chance to meet your favorite superheroes. Later that night, there will be an outdoor screening of “Spider-Man: No Way Home” at 7 p.m.- it’s bound to be a web-slinging good time!
Following Wednesday, it’s “Thor Thursday,” a fun day where you can test your skills with some axe throwing from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fun doesn’t stop at the bullseye! Head over to Mayes Lawn at 8 p.m. for a bonfire and a pep rally, all while enjoying drinks and s’mores with fellow Lions.
Fantastic Four Friday lives up to its name, with the green carpet rolled out on the oval. Join in for a Homecoming picnic as this year’s candidates are introduced, student T-shirts are given away, and the MOSO spirit winner is revealed.
And let’s not forget the highlight of the week! On Saturday, October 7, Missouri Southern will head to downtown Joplin for their annual Homecoming Parade starting at 10 a.m. Following that, get ready to cheer your heart out at the Homecoming game at 2 p.m. The coronation ceremony during halftime will be the crowning moment of an unforgettable week.
