Dioko Coffee Co. brings new experience to area
Joplin will soon be home of a new place for entertainment and relaxation.
The Dioko Coffee Co. will soon be opening its doors to the public for a new and upbeat experience to the people of Joplin.
The word Dioko comes from the Greek language and means “press on” (like a coffee press) or “strive.”
The owners of the coffee shop are planning a grand opening on Feb. 14, and they hope to open its doors for business about a week before the grand opening.
Jared Kendall, manager of Dioko Coffee Co., said he has been researching the idea of a coffee shop for two years now.
He thinks they have learned and prepared everything needed to run a successful business.
“A lot of people have tried to open a coffee house in the area, but we feel that we are ready,” Kendall said.
He said the business is going to offer an upbeat hangout that is a great new place to study, relax or meet with friends.
The shop will allow customers to get away from class or the office.
Every Friday night the coffee shop will offer live music. Jazz, blues, rock and piano are some of the styles of music that will be played.
The building is equipped with conference rooms, a fireplace and a 30-foot mahogany bar. Internet access will also be a feature of the new coffee shop. Some residents of Joplin are excited to see a place like the Dioko Coffee Co. open.
“It’s great to finally see a real coffee shop opening in Joplin,” said Toby Buckner, Joplin resident. “It’s great to know that there is a place like that to hang out in Joplin.”
The owners think Joplin was a great place to start a business because the citizens were in need of a place to hangout and enjoy everything a coffee house has to offer.
The Dioko Coffee Co. can be located at 514 S. Main St., in Joplin. For more information, people can call them at 623-4455.
