Southern begins search for new president

According to a news release from Missouri Southern’s relations and marketing department, nominations for a new University president will start being considered over the next 30 days.

Faculty Senate, Staff Senate, Student Senate and the Alumni Association as well as a few other community organizations will have those 30 days to nominate candidates.

“We fully understand the eagerness expressed by our students, faculty, staff, alumni and community as we prepare for the next chapter in our history,” said Alison Hershewe, who is currently chair of the Board of Governors’ personnel committee. She will also chair the presidential search committee.

The Board of Governors authorized the presidential search committee to submit a recommendation for a search firm, which will aid Southern in identifying candidates. At this time, it is unknown which firm will be used.

“Our goal is to be as transparent as possible throughout this process. We want to hear from everyone as Missouri Southern continues to play a large role in the economic growth of the community,” Hershewe said.
