Hear ye, hear ye…

The fictitious kingdom of Clarkshire, England, is opening its doors again for the eleventh Biennial Madrigal Feast.

The Madrigal Feast is a bi-yearly dinner theatre production.

“It’s a big feast in which the peasants are allowed to come into the castle and have a big meal,” said Bud Clark, director of chorale activities.

The show offers a four-course meal to attendants including turkey legs, barbeque ribs, and corn on the cob. The Missouri Southern chamber choir will be serving the tables and providing entertainment during the play.

Clark has written a script set in the Renaissance period, which will be acted out through the entirety of the meal.

“This year we have three kings who are coming from Germany, Italy and France who come for a peace summit,” said Clark. “They’ll meet with me and sign a peace treaty, or at least I think that’s what they are going to do.”

As the story unfolds, he will discover that the kings are in his home under false pretenses, but Clark will not give away any more of the story.

“You just have to come out to the Madrigal Feast to find out,” he said. “It’s a lot of audience participation and a lot of fun.

“What makes the show, basically, is what the audience does and their response to what is going on.”

The performances will be held at 7 p.m. March 11-14 in the Black Box Theatre. Tickets are $25.
