Flu shots offered to all connected to Southern

In preparation for the upcoming flu season, the Willcoxon Health Center offered flu shots to faculty, students, and staff last week.

The shots were given on Monday Oct. 3 and Tuesday Oct. 4 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 3 p.m.

“The turnout was really good. We’re a walk-in clinic, so it was busy,” Megan Hanna, Willcoxon Health Center secretary said.

According to Hanna, over the two-day period, the health center gave out about 150 to 200 flu shots.

Hanna said the $15 price tag for each shot was a price much lower than other clinics offer.

With the weather changing and winter approaching, taking precautionary measures to prevent the flu is key.

“Flu shots help build your immunity,” Hanna said. “You can still get the flu, but the shot keeps it from being as bad and helps to keep it from spreading to others.”

“We will be offering flu shots again later this month,” she said.

Persons who need a flu shot but were unable to get one last week may visit the health center again Thursday Oct. 27 and Friday Oct. 28 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30  to 4:30 p.m. for vaccinations.
