Students will have an opportunity to win an iPad Mini and learn more about the resources at the Gearge A. Spiva Library at its second annual open house. The open house is  Oct. 2 and 3 from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. The theme for this year’s open house is movies/cinema.

Upon entering the open house, attendees will receive a ticket. After guests visit each of the seven stations and have their ticket punched, the tickets will be entered into a drawing. The three grand prizes are iPad Minis.

Wendy McGrane, director of Spiva Library, said, “This open house is a great opportunity for students to learn about the staff and resources available here at the Spiva Library.”

McGrane says she is confident that this year’s open house will be successful.

She said, “Last year we had a great turnout for the event and made an impact on how students view the library and what is available to them.”

Nancy Crabtree, instruction librarian and assistant professor, said, “The library’s open house serves to introduce the campus community to the physical structure of the library, as well as its collections and services. The goal is for each individual to leave the open house feeling positive about, and comfortable with, the library and its staff. Students, faculty and staff should feel welcomed at the library and know that they have a place to turn in the future for help with all of their information needs.”
