True fans never leave a team

It isn’t easy cheering for a perennial loser, actually it sucks; there is no reason to put it lightly.

The St. Louis Rams are bad. They are bad now and they have been bad for quite a while now. I remember cheering on a St. Louis team with the likes of Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk and future Hall of Famers like Kurt Warner, Isaac Bruce, Torry Holt, Orlando Pace and London Fletcher as a child. We were “The Greatest Show on Turf.” Those were the days.

In 2003, the Rams went 12-4. That was the last winning season the Rams had. We have had a few 8-8 seasons (almost!), but we had some that were pathetic. A couple 2-14’s and a 1-15 season and you start losing faith.

Then the Rams brought in Coach Jeff Fisher. In just one season, he improved the Rams record from 2-14 to 7-8-1. It was the start of something great!

This offseason the Rams had what was thought to be one of the best drafts and signed cornerstone left tackle Jake Long. The thought was that we would only get better. I even heard some murmuring of “This is our year.” We sounded like typical Chiefs fans.

The Rams are 2-3 this season with wins over the mighty Cardinals and Jaguars. For the people who aren’t sports savvy, The Cardinals are lowly and the Jaguars have the potential to be the worst team in the history of the NFL.

If I have to see Jake Long and his $34M dollar contract knocked on his butt one more time I will probably turn off the TV.

Maybe we will improve this year, maybe not, but I’ll remain loyal to my team (A concept not familiar to you former Cleveland Cavalier fans) and go into next season saying “Hey, maybe this is our year.”
