The victim of the shooting at Regal 14 Movie Theatre was a Missouri Southern employee and he has been pronounced dead. The Homecoming activities have been canceled and the football game against Lindenwood has been postponed.

According to Joplin police, dispatch received a call at 9:50 p.m. of shots fired at the theatre, less than a mile away from Missouri Southern campus.

The officers labeled it a targeted shooting and a suspect has been taken into custody. A adult male is in critical condition at a local hospital. No other injuries have been reported.

The incident happened in the parking lot of the theatre as one movie was letting out, before another one began.
