Presidential Search Committee makes forward progress

The presidential search committee meets this afternoon after a two-week hiatus. The meeting will be held in Billingsly Student Center Room 306 at 3 p.m.

“We hope to finalize what the professional search firm will do for us in this week’s meeting,” said Raymond Dunaway, who represents the student body on the presidential search committee.

The selected search firm will perform more comprehensive background checks on candidates for the position.

Along with coming to a decision on the search firm, the committee will address how they plan to advertise for the presidency position.

Dunaway also said that the hope is to have the majority of applications for the position in by the first of May.

As a representative for the students, Dunaway hopes to receive feedback from his fellow students on what they would like to see happen from the committee.

“This particular meeting is open to the public, so if anyone would like to come and get a feel for the search, you are more than welcome,” said Dunaway.

The committee is tasked with finding a permanent University president. Dr. Alan Marble, has fill the role of interim president since June.
