Cody Fire, a contestant in last year’s Big Man on Campus contest, shows off his beauty gown.

It is not everyday one can see a male student strutting his stuff across center stage on the campus of Missouri Southern.

Saturday at 7 p.m. in Corley Auditorium, Zeta Tau Alpha will hold the third annual Big Man on Campus event.

The men will go through three rounds of competition. Round one will be question and answer. In round two, the men will have to display a talent and round three will be the swimsuit competition.

Senior secondary education history major Evan Zupan is ready to compete.

“I’m pretty excited about it; I’m also pretty confident too,” said Zupan. “I’ve lost a lot of weight; I’m ready to show off my beach body.”

In addition to the male pageant, there will be raffles, baked goods, lemonade and more included at the event.

“It is going to be so much fun,” said Diana Vu, freshman kinesiology major and member of Zeta Tau Alpha. “We have a lot of prizes from sponsors and donations, so people can also enjoy winning stuff.”

This is the first year for Vu to be apart of the event and organizing everything, but she said it has been lot of fun.

The event received sponsorships and donations from Festival Mexican Restaurant, General Mills, Gusanos Pizza and other local businesses around Joplin.

“The event is not just for sororities and fraternities, but for all students, the community and families as well,” said Vu.

Pre-sale tickets are $2 available in the Lion’s Den until 1 p.m. today and will be $4 at the door on Saturday.

Zeta Tau Alpha will distribute the proceeds to breast cancer awareness organizations.
