Senior Dawn Grass

Dawn Grass

As a whole, Missouri Southern’s softball team may not have performed as well as they would have liked this year, but it was still a historic season for senior first-baseman Dawn Grass.

Grass had an outstanding year by all measures, hitting for a .346 average and driving in a teamleading 33 runs.

Her biggest accomplishment came in the first game of a double header against Washburn on April 6.

Despite losing the game, Grass broke the all-time record at Southern for home runs in a career.

Before season’s end, Grass added one more home run for good measure, and ended her career with 28. Grass broke Angie Turner’s record of 26 that had stood since 2010.
