The MSSU Staff Welfare Committee is inviting the campus community to its Swag Swap Shop Open House this Tuesday, Nov. 11, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event will take place in the Lion Co-op, located on the third floor of the Spiva Library.
This event is open-house and its purpose is to provide free Missouri Southern merchandise to campus employees while also collecting donations for the Lion Co-op student pantry.
“The Swag Swap Shop Open House… is to engage employees across campus who may be new or need some new clothing,” said Tara Schneider, MSSU Instructional Designer and member of the Staff Senate, who is organizing the event. “It’s free to anyone, and also donations are welcome.”
This event hopes to make a big comeback building on the previous success from last year which saw over 100 items donated to the Co-op and many items contributed to the swap.
“You can bring donations during the open house and those will go directly to the Co-op and help the students,” Schneider said.
The Lion Co-op is known for providing free food and personal items with the goal of helping students who are dealing with food insecurity. It is an easy way for many students to get essential personal items and a bite to eat.
During the Swag Swap Shop Open House, people can donate any MSSU-logo clothing, headbands, or other branded items in addition to personal hygiene items and shelf-stable, in-date food.
