On Sept. 25 the Lions stomped Central Missouri State University, 2-0.

The lead scorer was Tera Reisner, senior forward, with four shots on the goal, and two goals.

“It can’t just be a one person show, everyone is in on it,” said Trevor Wachsman, women’s soccer coach

“That was by far the best game we’d played all season, no one played as individuals, we all played as a team,” said Melissa Husby, senior defender.

Oct. 1, the Lions played with Northwest Missouri State University 0-0. They held off the Bearcats and ended with a tie.

“In the past couple games we have played a lot better,” Wachsman said. “Our training is paying off.”

“Our new coach (Wachsman) has been nothing but positive and has already done good things,” Husby said.

Wachsman has been bringing a little something new and different to the Lions game.

“Trevor brings a new aspect to the game he makes us work a lot harder than I’ve ever worked,” said Stephanie Doerr, senior defender.

“We put more mentally into the game, exercising my mind to the point where I get as fatigued as my body.”

With no serious injuries the Lions have a strong, healthy team.

“For the most part we are staying pretty healthy, which is important because we don’t have as many players as most teams do,” Wachsman said

Wachsman has seen much improvement out of the Lions this season.

“We brought our training out to play and it shows,” Wachsman said.

Senior goalkeeper, Kim Boessen was named Wilson/Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association player of the week.

This is the second week in a row the Lions women’s soccer team has had a player of the week.

Saturday, the Lions play Southwest Baptist University there. At 3 p.m. Monday, Truman State University steps foot on Lion territory.

With some tough conference games coming up, the Lions seem to have no worries.

“Truman is our rival, and ever since I’ve been here we haven’t beat them,” Doerr said.

“I’d like to show them we aren’t just a little school and that we can really play some soccer.”

“The entire team was thankful for the fan support at last week’s game,” Husby said.
