Feminist movement takes equality too far

I’m all for women’s rights. Almost nothing upsets me more than male chauvinism or the abuse of women.

However, I have a bone to pick with the feminist movement. The sexual revolution has resulted in higher single mother and teen pregnancy rates. Women’s empowerment has disrupted the natural family structure and hurts our children. Is this really what our mothers wanted for us?

The idea is a good one but has been taken too far. Feminists have even tried to assert that pornography is a symbol of a woman’s freedom because it liberates a woman to use her body as she pleases. The truth is that our feminist society encourages women to parade themselves as purely sexual beings. This hurts not only the poor woman who’s body has been willingly turned into an object of masturbation, but also for all women who are consistently being treated with less and less respect. Women say they want equal rights and respect in the workplace, but self-proclaimed objects don’t demand much respect.

Feminism has convinced our nation’s mothers to leave their children and homes to enter the workplace in droves. This disrupts the natural family structure. There is an increasing population of “latch-key kids” who spend far too much time unsupervised.

We conduct studies on the sources of deviant behavior in children and prescribe counseling and Ritalin to the troubled tots. Study results point to the destruction of the traditional family.

I’m not saying that a woman’s place is in the home, I myself am an aspiring journalist, but our nation’s mothers need to get their priorities straight. We are breeding a generation of socially inept deviants.

Another frightening trend is emerging where career women wait to have children until they have established themselves vocationally, only to find that they have waited too long and are unable to conceive. This explains the increasing demand for fertility drugs.

Feminism has pushed women’s rights past fair treatment to inappropriate lengths.

The fundamental truth is that men and women are equal but different. Each gender has a completely separate, but equally essential, role in this game called life. Women need to stop trying to be men and realize that they don’t need a penis to be a person.

Feminism has become a crutch to the women’s movement. We have become so open-minded that our brains are falling out.
