Buying this movie outright without seeing it in the theaters or renting it first, I fell in the love with the newest Disney movie to hit store shelves.

Cars, released on DVD Nov. 7 from Disney and Pixar, is the story of a rookie racecar, Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson), who finds himself stranded in Radiator Springs on old Highway 66 town after hitting a detour on his way to the Piston Cup race.

He runs into some interesting characters who teach him there is more to life than trophies and fame. Actors like Bonnie Hunt (Sally), Paul Newman (Doc Hudson) and Larry the Cable Guy (Mater) lend their voices to this terrific movie.

Directed by John Lasseter, this movie was supposed to be the last one made by the partnership of Disney and Pixar, which would have been a disappointment. However, this will not be the last. The partnership remains and movies like this one will continue to be seen on the big screen. For those who have not seen any of the Pixar animated films like Finding Nemo and The Incredibles, the detail and thought that is put into each of the movies made is just incredible. Cars is no exception.

Along with the movie, you get the bonus material typical to every DVD including how they made the movie and deleted scenes. However, you also receive two funny short films. The first is called One Man Band, made by Pixar, in which two one-man band players compete for one little girl’s piece of money.

It turns into an all-out battle to see who the best is, but my lips are sealed about the ending to the film.

The other short film is Mater and the Ghostlight. Mater, a tow truck, likes to pull pranks on everyone in Radiator Springs. After being caught, one car tells the story of the ghostlight, which spooks Mater.

It turns out he runs into the ghostlight and a little more than that. OK, it is a known fact the Pixar crew did some research for the movie in Baxter Springs, Kan., but did you know the ghostlight is actually something real?

Of course, it’s also not called the ghostlight if you haven’t figured it out.

One disappointment to this DVD is the music involvement. With a great soundtrack from John Mayer, Sheryl Crow and Rascal Flatts, there are no music videos anywhere on the disc.

I know there are some because I have seen them. Rascal Flatt’s video for “Life Is A Highway” would have been an awesome addition to the DVD.

Maybe they will try to put it on there when they decide to re-release it in the future.

If you love cars and Disney, you will certainly love this great movie.

If you want, drive to the nearest store and pick up a copy.

Just remember not to speed.
